Our Story

Founded by two sisters, Kente Canines is all about taking care of the entire family... including our dogs who, just like us, are sisters too!

Our love for our dogs sparked a dream that we could bring the African heritage and culture we grew up with into their world, too.

Winnie and Nala are our official Doggy CTOs (Chief Treat Officers). They test comfort, durability, and they’re the final approval on how fabulous each accessory looks in real life.

How Kente Canines Started

Kente Canines was born out of a moment that felt simple but meant everything.

At Sheila’s wedding brunch, our entire family wore custom Kente outfits made in Ghana. It’s traditional in Ghanaian culture for members of the same family to wear the same cloth. It shows who your family is and distinguishes that you belong together at the event.

We asked our late aunt if she could bring extra pieces of the family's fabric to make bandanas for Winnie and Nala. We wanted to ensure our dogs belonged too.

That moment sparked something.

We realized the stylish Kente patterns we grew up with didn’t exist in the pet market.

So we decided to introduce it ourselves.
